Whelm is a band, based in Copenhagen, Denmark and was active for nearly a decade. In 2006 the band released a 4 track EP which was well received. Settling as a stable quartet in 2008 Whelm began to work on their first album. Since it's inception the band have relentlessly pursued the darker side of the metal genre, creating a crushing and devastatingly heavy music. The musical texture is further enriched with a wide selection of instruments rarely seen in the metal genre.
The album name derives from the 1919 WB Yeats poem "The Second Coming".
Whelm's debut album is witness to a form of doom metal, influenced by early black metal, old school death and post rock. The band create moments of beauty, darkness and brutality - pure bliss.
